On Friday 24th March 2000 I was once again at the Cheltenham & Gloucester College of Higher Education, Park Campus, Student Union Bar. This time it was to see a local covers band called THE DECKCHAIRS.

During the soundcheck I actually discovered that this band was an amalgamation of Cheltenham bands such as TRUEBRIT, THE RED HAND GANG, and THE STEREOPHONIES, also in the band was the sister of one of THE CHIP SHOP BOYS.

Some of the tracks performed on the night were RELIGHT MY FIRE, CAR WASH, BOOGIE OUGGIE, PARK LIFE and 1999 (which went a bit astray, but I forgave them).

Unfortunately, the students did not really give the band any encouragement, in fact I think they thought they were sitting on Deckchairs, however I enjoyed the performance and I made sure the band knew this.
